The law firm representing Warren Kinsella tweeted a notice of libel at Nick Kouvalis Friday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”12″][vc_column_text]View Article <\/span><\/a>[\/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”12″][vc_column_text]The former war room chief for the Olivia Chow mayoralty campaign is threatening to sue a John Tory strategist \u2014 via Twitter.<\/p>\n

On Friday afternoon, the Toronto law firm Shillers LLP tweeted at Tory campaign strategist and former Rob Ford<\/a> strategist Nick Kouvalis on behalf of Warren Kinsella for comments he made on Twitter.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the Chow campaign announced Kinsella would \u201cstep back\u201d from the day-to-day affairs of the race but would remain a volunteer. That move followed controversy over a tweet sent by Kinsella calling Tory\u2019s SmartTrack transit plan \u201csegregationist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tory\u2019s team decried<\/a> the tweet, saying it wrongly accused Tory of being racist. Kinsella later deleted the tweet in question and posted an apology he sent that distanced his actions from the Chow campaign.<\/p>\n

The law firm\u2019s tweet contained a notice of libel alleging Kouvalis defamed Kinsella by suggesting he was fired by Chow\u2019s campaign, that he made a \u201cnegative contribution\u201d to the campaign, that the campaign is \u201cbetter off\u201d without him and that Kinsella is \u201ceasily replaceable.\u201d<\/p>\n

The notice contains snapshots of several tweets sent by Kouvalis Thursday night where he writes: \u201cThe campaign made a very smart move dumping Kinsella et al today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another tweet sent to Chow and Kinsella contained a YouTube link to Beyonce\u2019s top hit Irreplaceable.<\/p>\n

The notice says \u201cKouvalis was motivated by malice when he posted the defamatory words\u201d and outlined that Kinsella and Kouvalis have long been political opponents.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Kouvalis was tweeted about the libel notice, he sent a tweet of his own.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is a wonderful song,\u201d Kouvalis wrote, linking to another song: Johnny Cash\u2019s, A Boy Named Sue.<\/p>\n

Neither Kouvalis nor Kinsella\u2019s lawyer David Shiller immediately responded to a request for comment. Kinsella referred all comments to his lawyer.<\/p>\n
